Jorge Román has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the ESAN School of Business Administration. He has taken a specialization course in International Business at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). He is a graduate lawyer from Pontificia Universidad Catolica of Peru.
Jorge has been a professor of the “Imports, Exports and Customs” course at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Lima.
He is currently Director of the Foreign Trade Committee of the Lima Chamber of Commerce. He has written various articles on Foreign Trade Law and Customs and is a regular speaker at courses and seminars on customs issues at the Lima Chamber of Commerce.
Jorge Román has more than twenty years of experience in consulting on Foreign Trade and Customs Law. He has sponsored importing and exporting companies in customs inspections on value adjustments for imports, inclusion of royalties and related companies, as well as tariff classification and drawback (restitution of tariff rights). He has also sponsored foreign trade operators (temporary warehouses, customs agencies, international freight agencies) in the process of inspection and imposition of sanctions.
He has participated in the development of various customs plans for companies that are going to begin importing their products into the country, supporting the entry scheme of the same through the application of various customs regimes such as import for consumption, temporary admission and replacement under franchise. He has also provided advice on issues related to the application of free trade agreements (FTA) such as tariff reduction and application and use of the rules of origin of goods.
Among the clients he has advised are companies such as DP World Peru, Monster Beverage Peru, Messer Gases, Glaxosmithkline, Herbalife, Zara, Calida, Warnaco Peru, Cummins. Kuehne Nagel, Bureau Veritas, Agrícola La Venta, Agroindustrial Laredo, Aspersud, Hamburg Sud, Pacific Textile Industry, Impala Terminals, Tracto Trucks among others.
