Jorge Román holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru and a Master in Business Administration degree from the Escuela de Administración de Negocios (ESAN). He has also pursued specialization studies in International Business at the Anderson School of Management in the University of California (EEUU) and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain).

Jorge is a professor in the Economics School at the Universidad de Lima, and is Director of the Foreign Trade Committee of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima. He has written several articles of Customs Law and is a usual lecturer in courses and seminars on Custom Law for the Chamber of Commerce of Lima.

With a track record of over fifteen years of counseling in all matters pertaining Customs Law, Jorge has advised companies in customs inspections related to software importing, matters related to royalties and affiliates, as well as to tariff classification and drawback issues.

He has advised clients who will start importing their products into Peru in Custom Law structuring of their importing operations, with an aim at securing their income scheme through the application of various importing custom regimes such as consumption, temporary admission and replacement franchise. He has also provided advice on issues related to the implementation of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) such as tariff relief and application and use of the rules of origin of goods.

As a member of the Foreign Trade Committee of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima, he has participated in the commission that issued the opinion to the government in regard of the Project of New Customs Act, to be promulgated by the Executive Branch of the Government.

Among the clients that Jorge has advised are companies such as Dubai Ports del Peru, Monster Beverage Peru, Messer Gases, Efectimedios, Glaxosmithkline, Herbalife, Zara, Calida, Warnaco Peru, Cummins, Kuehne Nagel, Bureau Veritas, Agricola La Venta, Agroindustrial Laredo, Aspersud, Hamburg Sud, Industria Textil del Pacifico and Surpapel.
